Classic Granola Recipe (with Fresh Milled Flour)
This easy homemade granola recipe is on regular rotation in our home, and there’s one main reason I like it so much: it has clusters! One of my main pet peeves with most homemade granolas is that they end up just being a pile of seeds and oats, and this recipe solves that problem with a secret ingredient (plus two easy tricks).

There are three secrets to clustery homemade granola.
- Use fresh milled flour as binding agent (plus it packs in extra nutrients!)
- Pack the granola into the baking sheet for the first bake, like granola bars
- Turn the granola in slabs (without breaking them up)
Most of the time we make this recipe with cinnamon and walnuts, but I love adding orange zest and cranberries in the winter, pumpkin pie spice in the fall, or whatever seasonal flavors/extras sound good.
I hope you enjoy this granola recipe as much as we do!

Classic Granola Recipe
Ingredients
- 4½ cups rolled oats
- ½ cup einkorn wheat berries
- 1 cup chopped walnuts or nut of choice
- ½ cup melted coconut oil
- ⅔ cup maple syrup
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ½ tsp salt
- 1½ tsp vanilla
- 1 cup dried cranberries or add-in of choice
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Mill the einkorn wheat berries into a large mixing bowl and add the rolled oats, chopped walnuts, cinnamon, and salt. Stir to combine. Add the melted coconut oil, maple syrup, and vanilla extract and mix thoroughly. Add the dried fruit or add-ins and stir.
- Pack the granola mixture into a 18×13 baking sheet and pack it down almost like it will be granola bars. Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from the oven and flip slabs of the granola mixture at a time (some will crumble, but try to keep each scoop together as much as possible). Bake for an additional 12-15 minutes, or until the granola is lightly golden.
- Allow to cool till it hardens. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two weeks.
