“Through wisdom is a house builded… And by knowled “Through wisdom is a house builded… And by knowledge shall the chambers be filled with all precious and pleasant riches.” Proverbs 24:3,4

I’ve been scared to decorate my home: scared of picking the “wrong” things that didn’t match, scared of doing the “wrong” style that isn’t truly me, but also scared of simply copying others and feeling empty about my own personal style.

But as I’ve been reading The Hidden Art of Homemaking, I’ve realized that creating a beautiful home is a joyful task I’ve been given as someone who was created in the image of the Ultimate Creator and Decorator; not something to feel scared about because I’m not doing it “right.”

I’ve always loved interior design and deeply longed to beautify my spaces, but I’ve allowed fear and a false sense of practicality to keep me from delighting in this God-given task. I’m certainly not an expert, but it’s time to have fun, embrace my true sense of style, and cultivate this stewardship God has given me: my home and my creativity.

It’s so easy to see all the lovely spaces and expert decorators online and feel that I’m not good enough to know how to decorate from my own creativity instead of copying someone else. But instead, I’m going to start exercising my design muscle, and, like the Proverb says, fill my home with precious and pleasant riches (even if they’re mostly secondhand or DIY😉).

Don’t worry! I’m still mostly going to be sharing fresh milled flour content, but I’ve also decided to start documenting the decor lessons I learn as a newbie who is stepping away from simply copying the “experts” and wants to embrace her God-given sense of creativity.

And if you’re interested in a copy of the book that’s been inspiring me in my role as someone made in the image of the Ultimate Creator, comment BOOK and I’ll send you a link!

Happy Monday!

Tips for Bakery-Style Domed Muffin Tops:
1. Temperature change for oven spring
2. Rest batter for gluten development
3. Fill muffin liners to the TOP

Ingredients:
2 large eggs, room temperature
¼ cup sour cream
¼ cup coconut oil, melted
½ cup salted butter, melted
¾ cup maple syrup
¾ cup buttermilk or sour milk, room temperature
1 Tbs vanilla extract
1½ cups einkorn wheat berries
2½ tsp baking powder
¾ tsp salt
1⅔ cups fresh or frozen blueberries
2-3 tsp flour for coating berries
Optional
3 Tbs cane sugar for sprinkling on top

- Preheat the oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Melt the butter and set aside.
- Mill the einkorn berries, and whisk together the dry ingredients.
- In a medium bowl, combine the eggs and sour cream. Add the melted coconut oil, milk, maple syrup, melted butter, and vanilla and combine. Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until just mixed. Avoid overmixing. Toss the blueberries in a few teaspoons of flour, and then fold the floured berries into the batter. Allow the batter to rest for 5-10 minutes.
- Bake the einkorn blueberry muffins at 425 for 7 minutes. Without opening the oven door, lower the heat to 350 and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes, or until an inserted toothpick comes out with only a few, small moist crumbs on it.
