I’m Haley, a wife and mother, and I’m delighted you’ve stopped by!

Ever since I was young, I’ve enjoyed experimenting in the kitchen, whether it was standing by my grandma’s side as she showed me how to make honey-sweetened desserts, canning garden produce at my grandparent’s farm, or baking up a sourdough treat for my family.

Now, with a home of my own, I’m on a mission to fill my recipe box with classic recipes my little family will use, love, and hopefully pass down for years to come.

I want us to be able to enjoy those traditional foods that bring a cozy nostalgia to our kitchen table; but I also want the foods we savor to nourish our bodies as well as our souls.

So, I’m filling our recipe box with dishes and baked goods that are made with fresh milled einkorn flour, sourdough starter, and natural sweeteners such as honey and coconut sugar. It’s a journey, but it’s already been so rewarding, and I’m excited to share these recipes with you!

Barley water tea is such a hidden gem. It’s a grea Barley water tea is such a hidden gem. It’s a great source of minerals and antioxidants, helps lower inflammation and balance blood sugar, and can help soothe digestive issues. 

Using unhulled barley is crucial since it’s more nutritious, but it’s also difficult to find. Comment TEA and I’ll send you the link to the type of barley you need. 

Barley Water Tea

8 cups water
1 cup unhulled barley
Raw honey to taste (I use 1 Tbs)

Bring the water to a boil and then stir in the unhulled barley. Allow the tea to steep uncovered until the temperature reaches 100 degrees (in order to avoid killing the nutrients in the honey, while still being warm enough to dissolve the honey). Stir in the honey and strain the barley out. Enjoy warm or chilled!

They are sweetened with coconut sugar, giving them that crackly top while also being lower on the glycemic index (meaning they spike your blood sugar less).
